Signing off

Well, my last few days in China weren't the greatest but they were what I had to work with. I had a few things happen and not all of them good. One of the biggest reasons relates to the fact that it's taken me this long to update my blog. I was buying a new computer bag for my laptop but to ensure that it fit, I took the laptop with me to the store. Unfortunately, the day I decided to do this was probably the rainiest day of the season. Even though my computer was (as I assumed) "safe" in my back pack, it still somehow managed to be affected by the weather and refused to turn on despite all of my efforts. Now my laptop wasn't the best in the world and it did have a few problems but, it was mine and I loved it. I was very sad to see it go. On the bright side, I can now get a new one and hopefully leave all those old problems behind. Then I got a wicked flu and was barely able to function. I wasn't able to take advantage of what was supposed to be my last Vox night. I was barely able to get out of bed. I was hoping to take a nap and then force my way out there but I just couldn't make it. I knew Vox was going to be amazing that night but I just couldn't do it. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. That was Friday.
I got to spend good times with my people at the school but it was hard to really enjoy myself being so sick. Then on Saturday Moose was having a party. Once again, I wanted to go to that, and I think that almost everyone went, but I knew the pains of partying the night before a flight and it wasn't fun the last time and I knew I didn't want to repeat it again. I opted to pass on Moose's party, much to his and everyone's disappointment, but I knew what I was doing and I knew it would be better to get a good night's sleep before my flight, than party and feel like shit on the plane and the entire day. Anyway, everyone pretty much ended up staying up all night and just before my alarm at 4:30 am, I got a drunken call from Klaver. I had to rush as it was to get my shit together but then it became a bit more difficult when everyone entered my room and tried to have one last party before we left. We took some pics and said our final goodbyes and then Colin, Lisa, Klaver and myself, hopped in the van for the last time. I was smiling but the others weren't doing so hot. Colin and Klaver were both still a little drunk and Lisa thought she was going to throw up at one point. We had hoped that we would all be on the same flight since we were leaving at the same time, however we found that it was two different flights and me and Klaver had to say our goodbyes to Colin and Lisa at the gates. Colin and Lisa headed home but Klaver and I were bound for Beijing. We made plans to spend the day there just so that the two of us could have a trip together.
We had an awesome day in Beijing. It was such a beautiful day. It was bright and sunny and Beijing was surprisingly green with miles and miles of blue sky. We ate a bit, walked a bit, napped a bit, shopped a bit and then ate some more. Then as the night crept up on us, we were looking for the hippest night club or bar. We didn't find the "hippest" night club but we did find a place that was a reasonable substitute. We had a few drinks and then headed back to the hotel late at night. This time I wasn't worried. We had a 12 noon check out and our flight was leaving at 4pm. We had lots of time to recover. Once we were back at the Beijing airport, we waited in line at Air Canada check out only to see a familiar face waiting too. It was Maya. We were shocked, surprised and incredibly happy. The three of us managed to be seated together and enjoyed ourselves on the plane. Once we landed in Vancouver, we had some baggage difficulty but it was quickly dealt with and then we had to make our way to our gate, poste haste. We got a flight and said our goodbyes to Maya since we were heading to Toronto and she was on her way to Montreal. On our flight to Toronto, the plane couldn't fly fast enough for me. I was so excited and I just wanted to get home after a long ordeal. Finally we landed and found that our luggage didn't meet us there. We filed the appropriate report and hoped for the best. Klaver and I were just happy to be home and were looking forward to meeting our parents on the other side. My mom was awesome and had a welcome home sign waiting for me and Klaver's dad and his sister were there and they were all smiles. I was happy to meet them since I had been anticipating that rendez vous for a while. We chit chatted for a while and then parted ways. We were so exhausted that we just wanted to go home and didn't want to see another airport for a long time. I know I won't but Klaver'll be seeing that Pearson International all too soon. Our bags were delivered today, btw.
So that's it folks, my Chinese adventure. It's been a long couple years and there've been so many ups and downs. I've learnt much about life, myself, China and the world. These are experiences that will last me a life time. Luckily I have this blog that I can always refer to but most of my memories are stored in my noggin. I wouldn't give them up for the world and I'm ecstatic that I have them.
Tisha in China has been an awesome experience. I hope you've enjoyed reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it.
Now I'm home.
Tisha in China...? The adventure ends here, but Tisha in Canada.......... well that's another story. A life long tale that will live on, unfortunately, it won't happen here in cyber space.

Smooches,
